The forgotten failure

While McCain and Bush put all their effort into selling the reduction in violence in Iraq as a major victory, there's this from Afghanistan: May was the second deadliest month of the war since hostilities began in Afghanistan shortly after 9/11.

May also marks the end of the deadliest 12-month period (in terms of U.S. combat troop deaths) in the nearly 7-year war.

What's that Bush phrase I'm looking for that sarcastically conveys my contempt for the administration's failure to plan these wars and its overconfident reliance on cowboy rhetoric? Oh, right: Mission accomplished.
